Here is the progress on my latest stuff. I've had the old Italeri M4A3 with calliope laying around for years and didn't want to do it as an M4A3. So recently I got my hands on an M4 Normandy (thanks Jeremy) and decided it was time. I pulled a low bustle turret from the M4 Composite kit and filled in pistol port and oval loader's hatch. This leaves my with the cheek armor molded in and I still have the normal low bustle turret from the kit if I screw up and that's a very real possibility. It is probably the most tedious detailing I have ever done for the simple fact that there are 60 tubes...each tube gets 2 holes drilled, 2 2-part clips, a firing wire, and a connection wire. Then comes the 10 ignition wires and connections from top to bottom. I know it sounds like I'm kind of whining but I can hardly see this stuff. Then comes the rod from the barrel for elevation...
If anyone else out there feels like tackling this project and doesn't know about it, Nacho Inigo did an absolutely outstanding build of this on panzernet and I'm referring to it heavily. Sorry for the fuzzy close up.
