Well this one is a kit bash of Academy, Tamiya and MP. Academy for the hull and suspension, Tamiya for the turret and MP for the M50 parts. The build came about as I had started the Academy kit for a Chilean M51 build years ago, now with Gary's conversion I scraped that idea and along with watching Gary do the scratch work for a M50 turret ... I thought at first of just popping on the MP M50 turret, then the great idea of correction it, which lead to this mess. I thought this would be easier LOL.
this is what I'm after
start with the turret(s)
MP turret, I ended up cutting off anything that made it a M50
split the counter weight, then added styrene to lengthen it
then added styrene and putty to the outside edges to change the shade some
the lopped off trunnion, added styrene to thicken it
thickened the mantlet with some styrene
Tamiya turret
I hacked off the back and added the cheek armor
I changed the angle on the rear of the Academy hull, then made welds for styrene
started to change the engine deck to an earlier one
Hey dogfish, If you like the Israeli stuff and haven't see the Sabinga Martin books from the lioness and the lion you are missing out. They have scale drawings and loads of reference pics. Beekster is the real expert on the Israeli stuff as well.
highpoint is right dogfish, I only have the first book from Sabinga Martin, Lioness and the Lion of the line, Vol 1 and that was enough to get me into trouble. I took the turret and parts and held them over the drawing and eyeball the shape and size, not perfect but close. Worked some on it last night, thought I was happy with counter weight, but after putting on some casting texture and looking at it at a lot different angles - I'm thinking I have to cut it off and make adjustments.
You really amaze me, with all the slicin n dicin. It's like guys do to Custom cars. I just chopped the top on a 57 Ford Sedan, but nothing like this stuff!

So, how's this one coming? Inquiring minds need to know....
Still sitting on the bench. Had to work a lot last month (including strange hours). Also trying to get back on a four wheeled project in the garage, but need to finish my shed for parts, car and model stuff. Weather getting warm I kinda lose some bench time
