My name is Michael Satin (as witness my extremely original user name) and I'm a Shermaholic. There, I said it, and I'm not looking for a program to get over it. So there!
I've been building since, well, a very long time. My focus has mostly been on aereothings, but I've always had a soft spot for the Sherman. When Dragon started to up their game on M4 kits back in the last century, I started to stock up. In my innocence I thought I could build a collection of the main variants, but as I've collected more kits and more references I can see that ain't gonna roll. Son of Sherman volume I finally put paid to that idea; clearly the only way to build a real representative collection is to just go ahead and build all 50,000, plus variations as individual vehicles were modified over their lifetimes. Yeah... Still, I've got a good few kits and am always looking for ways to improve.
I have to admit, weathering isn't my thing and I got into armor to get over the AMS I was suffering as a long time air builder. So don't expect great show-stopping Shermans from me. But I do like to learn and am very happy to find and become part of this group.
Personally, I'm a 53 year old attorney (yech!) from Colorado who grew up across the river from the Rock Island Arsenal and played around on an outdoor M4A3E8 dozens of times when I was a kid. This was in the years before "safety" and they let us climb right into the thing. That's probably where my Sherman soft spot developed. It's never really gone away. Of course, it may be because I banged my head on it more than a few times.
So, Thanks for having me Sherman Shop and I look forward to many successful years of association!
