When I happened to stumble onto this site I was surprised at finding a posting sits on the side of MSC which does not appear on their site but I thought OK I kind of prefer having the AFV builds separate from the Floatustuff and Wnigythings so I can go with it. Are we going to just post out builds here which seems to have most of the real active guys from MSC and post any other AFV work on the regular MSC site?? Generally what is the plan here for the long term??
Tony pretty much explained it. This forum is for the Sherman and its variants. This forum is separate from MSC, but a few of the members from MSC kicked in to help get things set up. This one is in no way intended to compete with MSC, or any other forum.
I have lots of things planed for this forum, but unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to concentrate on the forum as I would like to. I’m hoping to attract some of the more knowledgeable Sherman experts, and hopefully get their input on the forum.
I also have several Archer reviews that I’m working on. Those will be posted in the review section.
This forum is still in its infancy, it will grow over time, I just don’t have a lot of time at the moment to make it happen over night.
I appreciate each and every person that post and shares information here, from the experts down to the beginners.
If you find yourself needing volunteers, let me know as I would love to help out. I have experience both as an Administrator and Moderator plus I think the website could use more articles and research too.
Of course I know it doesn't pay (LOL) but that isn't the point. It is fine just the way it is and don't see a need for change anytime soon.
Thanks for creating a truly unique forum! I'm onboard for a long time as the Sherman is my favorite tank... just don't let the username fool you.
Joined this site to gain experience on building Sherman Tanks and other Variants. Only plan to build US Military Vehicles for the most part, but now have about a dozen Sherman and several other US M Series Armor. Already have received help from forum members and it's much appreciated. Also will help with the forum and hope to grow with it, what ever direction it leads. Great job to all the participants and to those who set it all up!
I think I have got it, thanks I will try to contribute, getting all the reference stuff in one place would be nice but I can see some indexing issues as Sherman stuff often combines more than one variant. Anything I post I will try to keep it as a separate Sherman item and then it can be moved if in the wrong spot without loosing its intent.
By it's very nature this will be a slower site. I do not think we are limited one bit just concentrating on Shermans and variants. Heck I have ten on the shelf right now and no two are alike.
I'll be starting another after the first of the year and might do one before that.
Shermans are exactly like Tigers, Panthers or Churchills. They look all the same to the untrained eye, but if you know your subject, you take an interest in all the idosyncratic differences.
Im here because i love the Sherman Tank and because i want to learn more about them, share my builds any info on my techniques on paint a weathering, support & contribute to The Shop and all members and admins as much as i can and most important.....HAVE FUN!
Im in for the long haul no matter 100 or 100,000 members!!!
I find it slow at times but we're heading into the wintertime where and when most builds happen PLUS, we have an upcoming Sherman Group build that will kick things up a notch!
