Now here is an oldie, I started this years ago when it first came out well as most of you know the turret just did not look right. So after starting it and not liking how it was coming out I just put it away. Forward to just, maybe four years ago I took it out and thought I could make it better, I made some boxes for the concrete armor and then covered it with A+B putty. I played with the turret shape and still was not happy with it. Again put it away. About a year ago took it out and really worked on reshaping the turret after seeing a thread. He did a wonderful job. I thought well might just try to get it right. Well I still did not like the shape so I ended up using a Italeri/Testers turret with the DML port grafted on.
shots of the kit before starting the next go around.
by this time I had added welds to the hull
here is a couple shots of the DML turret after the final reshaping
Italeri turret, I added some the casting marks out of an Academy kit, I know they are not correct, but was giving it a try
Ended up pushing this one to the complete stage. Not all the way done, but close enough.
I used Trumpeter T66 track. I have mixed feels about it. Looks good, some track shoes you have to re-drill the holes. It does fit the DML drive sprockets. Worst part about it was when moving the track around it does come apart. (I also installed one side upside down - oops) I rushed getting it on which did not help matters at all. I would try it again, but plan on a lot of time. The one plus I have to say is I picked it up CHEAP from Squadron.
