Another day of progress. I can't believe this Academy kit has such a great parts fit. The drivers compartment is pretty complete too, good enough to leave the hatches open even.
The hull is all dry fit and it fits perfect for being an old kit on top of that.

Really nice, Redneck
Academy kits are, IMHO, a little underrated. They are often better than what most people think. What I don't really like is that tannish color they use for the styrene...
I got a good scald on her today boys of coarse I started at 4am and put in a 12 hour day. When you get on a roll why stop? :DI'm tired but it's a good tired.
Installed bits that could be painted the base color but the others are still in my sardine tin for later.
Yeah buddy I got her feet under her.
I don't have any idea what they stored under there using those straps but you can take it to the bank it got nasty.
I won't need to be rocked to sleep tonight for sure. Tony lee
Took a break today from snortin paint fumes and did a little project that has to be done on the AFV M40. It seems AFV Club did some kit bashing with parts from another kit and got caught. A Sherman expert noticed that the barrel didn't look as it should and did some research. He found the barrel is a foot to short for scale and needs to be extended 8.5mm.
The fix consist of adding a 4mm wide splice in the middle band and a 4.5mm wide splice at the rear. Example: Some use Sherman road wheels for the biscuit splices while other improvise with whatever is handy.
Mike the RedLeg sent me a rear section of the barrel he poured and I cut the needed biscuits from it. My effort didn't turn out to bad but it needs a thin film of filler to really slick it up but at least the error has been fixed and won't slow me up when I build my AFV M40.
