As if I don't have enough of them--actively on the bench, shelf queens, and kits in the stash. Apparently I don't have enough, because I just added a couple more. What is more insane, though, is that both of them will require another Academy M3 Lee or Grant kit. One of them is a T10 Shop Tractor, or M3A1 Canal Defense Light. The Resicast turret is here, John Rybak at Formations has been alerted to make a new mold and cast up a resin M3A1 cast hull, and an inexpensive Korean home-market Lee is on the way. That one ought to be a relatively straightforward build, which will be a nice change after the Madill and M31 Treadway Bridge carrier are done. The second one was just added to the list a little while ago, thanks (or not...) to Dragon USA. I bagged another Sexton SPG on their 35% off sale, and that one will get earmarked to do a Yeramba. If you're asking yourself what the hell is that, you're not alone. It's really obscure, like a whole dozen built. The Australians built them post-WW2, essentially a Sexton fighting compartment grafted onto the front of a diesel Grant (thus, I need yet another Academy kit...and a couple of M4A2 sprues from Asuka, too, I imagine. Welded front end, riveted back end, really weird. I do love the variety of the extended Sherman family...

Yeah, although the schedule has been scrambled a bit. While the Madill proceeds more or less methodically, the CDL is ready for decals and the M31 on hold awaiting the upcoming Takom Lee and Grant releases. The M31 might get shifted to the new Lee, if it looks like it can be done without damaging the crane boom. The new Grant will spawn another project, an Aussie Grant with M1 Dozer blade. That will require the Takom kit, a Resicast blade set, a Tasca VVSS set A, and some work to convert the Grant to diesel. That's the straightforward stuff; the hard part will be the mesh grenade screen on the roof of the hull. That one will really test my soldering skills, eventually. Oh, and I've got the Tasca M4A3 on hand now for use with my M74 TRV conversion, and all I need for that one is Kaizen tracks and a single Asuka M32 sprue for the little ladder pegs on the A-frame.

Hi Beekster, if those ladder pegs are what I'm thinking, you might be better off bending them from metal rod. Plastic ones are just waiting for the chance to break when they get snagged...

Yeah, those are the ones...the reason I think plastic is that getting the bends consistent and post-bend length consistent for the pegs might be problematic. I know full well how easy they are to break, but since I plan to build it in transport configuration I hope to minimize the chances of snagging them. I don't know; I'll have to play around with the wire and see if I can get a consistent product. If I do, great; I'll make them a little long and drill the A-frame so that I can use a jig to push them all in to a consistent depth.
Decals started going on the CDL this morning, and it will take several sessions. While the "USA-" goes on as a unit, the "W-" and all six chosen digits (305811 a valid number from the batch assigned to ALCo for M3/M3A1 production) go on individually, and you can only do a couple at a time before you have to let everything set for a few hours before proceeding.
