Here are some shots of my nearly complete M51 first batch. Used Tamiya M4 engine deck and rear plate, Shapeways exhaust deflector, removed the ribs from muzzle brake, added new tie downs and straps for tools, scratch barbwire holder, and a Panzer Art canvas covered mg. I still have the light guards to add but Im not a very good solderer, some casting numbers, the caps and chains for smoke launchers, and have to go to hobby shop to get some brass or styrene tube to make the extended antenna mounts. It will be marked as "Panther" from L&L vol 2 but my stowage will be a little different. Anyone have an idea how to make the rolled camo net on the side? I'm thinking maybe epoxy putty with panty hose press into it to get a little texture but I'm open for suggestions.
Im calling this one just about ready for paint. Just have to attach chains for smoke dischargers and add one little piece of rod to barbwire bracket. The antenna mounts aren't very good but Im going to leave them. Had a hard time figuring out how to do them...couldn't get brass to look good then it dawned on me, British guards are close so I scrounged the dead kits and found 2. I ended up making the camo netting and rear shelf stowage from Apoxiscupt. Turned out pretty good.
All comments good and bad--if you see anything I can add or improve.
Got the basecoat down, detail painting, markings, and first layer of oils for weathering. Will probably add at least one more layer of oils then step back and look.
