As for the "new" Asuka M4A1, this Easy eight found for pre-order on online japanese model shops : this new packaging from Asuka for a M4A3 E8 with accessories. So, it seems to be a kind of alternative to the Tamiya reboxing of Tasca original release ef : 35020)
If it follows what has been done for the Firefly Ic Hybrid (Asuka 35028), we will get back the excellent M4A3 E8 from Tasca with special dedicated add-on (jerrycans, wood log ??...) and maybe some extras decals ?? Release is forecasted for january 2015
Also a M4A1 is announced for february with some special add-on also (look like they are the same jerrycans, wood log ??...).
I think this version is based on the movie,Fury. But the movie version is an M4A2E8. So to make the movie version, you would need parts from the A2,
That's correct; the tank used for filming was "RON", Bovington's M4A2/76W which has long been part of their show on the days that runners are trotted out for the crowd. I saw Ron run at Bovington back in 2007. As far as replicating "Fury" goes, a modeler has a choice to make: You can either model "Fury" as what it was supposed to represent, an M4A3, or as the tank actually used for filming, the A2. Having seen the film, from the camera angles used it's impossible to tell that it's an A2 being filmed instead of an A3. The M4A4, however, is instantly recognizable. I wonder when one of the resin figure houses will come up with a crew set.
"You could probably use some armor. A Sherman can give you a very nice...edge!"
Scroll down the page and you will see War Daddy, and two additional sets to complete the crew! For anyone not familiar with Bravo 6, their figures are excellent and the casting is superb. They are available direct from Bravo 6 or can be ordered here in the States from Chuck at The Red Lancers.
Also some may have noticed that Legend is recently providing a "Fury" update resin kit LF3000 ! But price I paid for the Tasca/Asuka new release (in Japan) is the same (including shipping) than the Legend set, here, in Europe...
Finally, Asuka 35030 "Easy Eight" has reached my desk and it is .... a mixed feeling as all accessories are in fact Tamiya stuff ! It seems like Tasca gave its Sherman to Tamiya and received some accessories in return...
Still good news as you'll find again the excellent Tasca 35020 original kit (late WW2 M4A3E8 with oval hatch and muzzle brake for the 76mm) with some extras :
- T80 tracks : a combo of four parts of vinyl belt + added plastic details (track pads, central pin) - Tamiya allied accessories set 35229 (see picture below) - Tamiya barricade set 35027 (see picture below)
Also are included a beautiful M1919A4 .30 Machine gun to complete the .50 M2 machine gun, a tanker (from Tasca M4A1 so more accurate for Sicily than Berlin), four Tasca US Jerrican ( so a total of 14 including Tamiya's ones + 10 British/german pattern ones), some rope, two paper ration boxes and a metallic-red-brick small sheet for aerial reconnaissance, if I guess correctly.
Decals sheet is also new and provides generic US marking to make you own choice (five stars, two stars in circle, two USA decals and two series of numbers ( 0 to 9) and letters (A to Z) in white
Feel free to ask if you need extra informations about this Asuka "special" M4A3E8 release.
The Asuka 35030 "Easy Eight" is also on my desk and it´s indeed with mixed feeling I´m looking at it and indeed all accessories are in fact Tamiya stuff ! Even the plans and the item numbers are correct the same as the Tamiya Easy Eight. By the way it´s no longer in the Tamiya 2015 catalog.
I know this since I bought a few years ago this Easy Eight of Tamiya for my youngest son. He´s now re-building this Tamiya Easy Eight to the Fury tank from the movie, it´s indeed an M4A2E8.
In the Asuka box there is a second deflector (later type), and it´s this second deflector that is used on the Fury tank, based on the movie pictures.
The Asuka box I found the T80 tracks, 4 plastic strips and guess what? They are too short, you can´t simply not use these tracks. This Asuka kit does not really add any value, it´s actually a full Tamiya kit under another name, even the extras are all from Tamiya.
But it´s a solution because Tamiya or any other brand sells better Sherman tank.
The Bravo-6 movie figures are really great and the Legend Productions M4A3E8 1945 Update Big set " Fury " is the most accurate set, but they do not add the red canvas that is on the tank.
My son uses also from Resicast the Full interior set for the driver compartment and the turret. He tried also to add the Verlinden productions Sherman M4A3 engine but this is to big, 100% sure it´s not scale 1/35. That is one of the issues with Verlinden, seems that they can´t make correct scale items.
And than to say that I've learned a lot from Francois Verlinden when he had his Model shop in Belgium in the city Lier. He has learned my among others the dry brushing technic.
