Just completed my latest creation. A DV Sherman II, HQ, 2nd Armoured Brigade, 1st Armoured Division, October 1942.
Base kit is by Tasca and uses aftermarket such as Voyager PE, Archer casting symbols, Bronco indi tracks, Great Wall and Plus Model cans, RB Model barrels and Voyager .50 cal ammo. Cast effect on turret was made using a burr attachemnt on a Dremel. Painting was with acrylics (Lifecolor Light Stone as base) with oils, Mig + AK products to weather.
Just gorgeous. The markings & camo are El Alamein, but it has that lived-in look as if it survived those battles and the subsequent drive west across Libya to Tunisia. The subtle rust is spot-on for a tank abraded by desert sand, crew activity, and nicks from bullets & shrapnel, followed by rain in the more temperate environs of Tunisia. Well done indeed!
"You could probably use some armor. A Sherman can give you a very nice...edge!"
