Some great details there Speed! What did you use for reference on the lower hull? John, see that you removed the Fill cap and drain lip from behind the Turret. Why did you do that?

Hwy fish, The Ford built M4A3s had a different configuration on the fill caps and splash guard. I'll be modifying that here soon.
Bigjohn and Dog fish I was not either, but I just wanted to try it. After getting my @$$ handed to me at the Nationals I want to do more to the builds and better builds I do. I do have to be careful and not lose my way or interest before I get to finishing them. (Been happening a lot more lately.)
Those figures aren't bad for plastic dudes, but be aware that the leg fit on the standing guys isn't the best. You'll need some filler. And expect to lose some detail here and there when you clean up the mold seams. I'm not denigrating the set, mind you, just speaking from experience of having used them in the past. Some Hornet heads will really make these guys pop, too.
"You could probably use some armor. A Sherman can give you a very nice...edge!"
Hey Beekster, Thanks for the info fella. I got them at a show last year for $4.00 bucks and have inspected them......not the best ive seen for sure. Gonna use 2 figs only, driver and commander.
I followed suit by drilling out the mount holes and filling with stretched spruce. Shaved and drilled the handles on the rear deck lid and bent some new wire one. Also filled in the underside fenders and rear exhaust box. Not quite as good as you guys, but it was fun:)

At that price you really can't go wrong, can you? A couple of Hornet heads and you're still into it less than original retail.

This doesn’t seam like much of an update, but there was a lot of work done to get to this point.
The Tamiya M4 kit has the wrong return roller brackets. The kit brackets are of the up swept variety and should have the straight return roller bracket. To correct this, I chose to use the Dragon suspension from the parts box. The Brass return skids are from Lion Marc Model Designs.
Here is a shot of the finished suspension components.
Glad I decided to check in on the goings on here with the Sherman Group build. Kudos to you all for the work you have done thus far. I am off on an aircaft build but I will continue to check in to see how you guys are progressing.
That's coming along nicely. Im doing something very similar right now but used a set of AFV Club suspension. Are you going to make this a combat tank or training tank? Maybe a small nitpick but I cant tell from photos but the seam/weld between filler splash rail and turret race should be filled. No weld there. Also, as a note--I have noticed in some pics that the crowbar is mounted on the left sponson a la big hatch early M4A2's.

The plan at the moment is an as built training tank state side. Thanks for the catch on the weld bead, that's something I over looked. I'll take care of that!
Oh man, I have a half-dozen of those old M4A3 kits, may need a break with all the IDF stuff I've been doing lately..... Plus the work going on here looks like too much fun!

Thanks brother Jeff, i know right, im gifted that way........but dont ya like the Sherman too?
Lets see if this works. If images post here is my M4A3 remanufactured. Basic Tamiya kit with very old Tank Workshop M4A3 conversion, Formations tools, AFV Club bogies with Tasca roadwheels, bunch of Dragon parts on turret with Tasca cupola, Archer casting numbers, and it will have a value gear pile of stowage. I'm pretty haphazard in my construction and bounce all over the place.
