this book was produced by Chrysler Defense Arsenal shortly after the Second World War was over. Some might find the book to be rather dry, but, I found the book very interesting if for no other reason, the photographs of the assembly line and testing. The book is filled with photos of unusual Sherman types, including the relatively unknown 90mm armed version depicted in the center cutaway. ;-) Having poked fun at the book, this book is recommended for all lovers of Sherman minutae. Thanks for your patience, Joel Smith.
I'll have to put that one on my next Amazon order. I had no idea it was in print, and factory histories like that are really valuable pieces of primary source material. Want to build a dio of a sherman on the factory floor, or in a large depot/refurbishment facility? This is the kind of reference you need. Most of us will remember Shep Paine's dio of the B26 Marauder factory, where he used mirrors on the sides to make the line look like it went on forever. Same technique could be used for a dio with a pair of Shermans...
"You could probably use some armor. A Sherman can give you a very nice...edge!"
